Luther Lather Shaving Creamery is a Charlottetown-based micro-batch purveyor of luxury shave cream. This father and son team founded the company in 2011 and can still be found at markets and pop-ups across the Canada and the US.
Adding Some Swagger
We completely updated Luther Lather’s existing Shopify site with a distinguished new colour palette and upgraded them to a premium theme with custom CSS updates. The theme was then further customized to allow for more functionality and custom pages specifically designed to tell the Luther Lather story.
The home page showcases some of their most popular handcrafted steins and refills, along with links to their Shaving Academy and important How-tos. Videos were integrated to create compelling stories for new and existing customers.

Product metafields were employed for extra functionality and showcase the distinct features and benefits of Luther Lather products. Customers can easily view the 3 most important product features and find the product information they need.
Collections were also upgraded to engage customers with new, seasonal and featured arrivals.
Creating the art of the shave
Through our discovery process and the creation of a design brief, we were able to create a new brand image for Luther Lather that matched their in-person presence.
We opted for botanical patterns in dark tones to match their natural, handcrafted shaving lathers as well as a smokey, old school barbershop aesthetic and colour palette. The site now has specific areas where clients can read and learn more about the brand’s history, as well as how to use their unique products.

The existing product descriptions were streamlined to enhance SEO. To optimize the UX design of product pages, any additional product information was migrated into metafields to make the shopping experience more enjoyable. We also showcased the top product features on specific products pages.

To showcase Luther Lather's rich and distinguished history, we created custom pages displaying their story, Shaving Academy, Journal and more.
I recently worked with Left Designs to help rejuvenate our website and rebrand it with the goal to create a more compelling shopping experience. They exceeded our expectations through storytelling and repositioning navigation, but more importantly optimized our sell proposition by designing every page to better showcase our product line and offering.
