Client: Labour of Love is a retail store and community hub for events, workshops, maker pop-ups and food & beverage demos.
Mobile Optimized Design
Making a good first impression is key – both at the store and online. We chose a theme that is fully responsive and customized it to align with Labour of Love’s visual aesthetic. The homepage shows off seasonal promotions, newest arrivals, and what’s going on at the store.
Custom Product Pages
Custom product pages are enriched with metafields to show off key information for customers.
With inventory ranging anywhere from jewellery to greeting cards, these customizations are vital to display more than a plain product description. Additional information like dimensions, care instructions, or materials are displayed based on individual product data.
Seamless App Integration
A product customization app was selected and installed to add extra functionality for customers – like adding a custom message on a greeting card. The app was then made to look seamless with the rest of the website for a smooth shopping experience.
Easy Filtering & Sorting
We created custom collections to display a variety of filtering options, depending on the product category and type.
Product metafields were employed for extra functionality and ease of use for anyone browsing the site.
To make browsing seamless, we created a set of custom icons to indicate important product details such as Canadian made products, products made with sustainable materials, and more.

Known for their unique jewellery selections and Canadian-made products and greeting cards, we transitioned Labour of Love from a rudimentary site hosted on BigCartel to Shopify. Now they can offer an e-commerce experience that felt as close as possible to shopping in-store.
The existing product inventory was updated with product descriptions, images, as well as products tags and metafields.
Ongoing maintenance allows us to keep the site up to date with what’s in store.

We researched and installed a premium theme, which was carefully customized to match the Labour of Love brand and shopping experience.
Custom sections were added to display key product and vendor information to customers.
For ease of browsing, we created a set of custom icons to indicate important product details on collection pages (such as Canadian made products, products made with sustainable materials, and more.)

Apps for product personalization were installed to add extra functionality and were styled to provide a seamless browsing experience.

Ongoing site maintenance ensures that we run the latest optimized theme. We also provide page refreshes, product catalog updates, and coordination with ongoing e-mail marketing.
